If you are seeing a password screen every time you try to go to your phone's home screen, please do not worry. Your phone is not broken, and your apps and photos have NOT been deleted. This guide will help you fix it in a few minutes.
What Happened?
This issue occurs when your phone's "Home Screen" application (also known as a "Launcher" or "System UI") has been accidentally locked within AppLock. Because your home screen itself is locked, you are unable to see or open any of your other applications.
How to Fix It: Resetting AppLock
The safest way to regain access to your home screen is to reset the AppLock app. This process will remove all locks, including the one on your home screen.
You will need to act quickly for this to work.
- Restart Your Phone Press and hold your phone's power button and choose to Restart.
- Quickly Open Your Phone's Settings As soon as your phone finishes restarting, you must act fast before the lock screen appears. Swipe down from the very top of your screen and tap the Settings icon (the little gear ⚙️).
- Find AppLock in Your Apps List In your phone's Settings menu, tap on Apps (or "Applications"). Scroll through the list to find AppLock and tap on it.
- Clear the App Data Tap on Storage, then tap the "Clear data" button. Your phone will likely show a warning; please confirm to proceed. This is safe for your phone's data and only affects AppLock.
What Happens Next?
Once the data is cleared, the lock on your home screen will be gone, and your phone will function normally again.
You can set up AppLock again from scratch. To prevent this problem from happening again, be very careful not to place a lock on system apps with names like "Launcher," "Home Screen," or "System UI."
