This guide explains how AppLock interacts with advanced Android features like Work Profile and Dual/Cloned Apps, which are common on devices from manufacturers like Samsung, Xiaomi, and others.
Android Work Profile
AppLock is unable to lock applications that are installed inside an Android Work Profile.
Why? This is not a bug, but is the intended behavior due to Android's strict security design. The Work Profile creates a separate, encrypted space on your phone to keep your work data isolated and secure. Personal apps, like AppLock, are installed outside of this space and are prevented by the Android system from seeing or interacting with your work apps.
Dual Apps / Cloned Apps
AppLock is designed to work with most Dual App or App Cloner features.
The cloned version of an app (for example, a second copy of WhatsApp or Facebook) should appear in your main app list inside AppLock just like any other application. It will often have a small badge or symbol on its icon to show that it is the cloned version.
You can lock it just like any other app by finding it in the list and tapping the lock icon 🔓.
Troubleshooting: Cloned App Not Appearing?
If you have recently created a cloned app and do not see it in the list, the list may just need to be refreshed. Please try this:
- Open AppLock to the main "Apps" tab.
- Pull down on the app list with your finger until you see a refresh symbol.
- Release, and AppLock will re-scan for all apps on your device. The cloned app should now appear.
